A Piece of Ocala’s Historic Property is Up FOR SALE
January 12, 2021
The lot is now up for grabs with a listing price of $25,000. The parcel measurements for this lot is 0.22 acres. The proceeds from this sale will go to HOPS preservation and their research projects. This parcel is zoned for a single family structure and must be approved by the Ocala Historic Preservation Advisory Board.
The HOPS president Pamela Stafford stated that they will work with the buyer on financing.
Two of the 18 homes on the HOPS Tuscawilla Park Walking Tour are located east of this vacant land that is now available.
The preservation board appointed by the City Council has to approve changes to the real estate and structures within the city’s four designated historic districts. Tuscawilla Park Historic District says buildings in that area are from a variety of architectural periods.
HOPS was established in 1980 as a volunteer organization that seeks to preserve historic architecture in Ocala and provide education and events. HOPS has been responsible for some major developments within the city. HOPS accomplishments are donating $23,000 between 1984 and 1999 to establish the Ocala, Tuscawilla Park and Downtown Historic Districts and the reconstruction of the gazebo on the Downtown Square.
