SUMMER LAWN CARE

April 23, 2020

This early onset of Summertime feel with a lot of extra time at home is a really great time to focus on improving the condition and look of your yard.  This will also give your curb appeal a boost so whether you are preparing to possibly list and sell your home or just want to enjoy it in its prime condition, read on for some helpful tips and suggestions to get your lawn in tip top shape!

Early-Summer

Feed: Early lawn feeding and watering is best as it helps withstand the heat and gives the nutrients a better chance to be absorbed.

Mowing: Mow with the blades positioned higher as this helps develop deeper roots. Tall grass also helps to shade soil so you will not need to water as much or as often.

Clippings: Let the grass clippings lie because the clippings break down and feeds your lawn.

Mid-Summer

Water: The goal is to water long enough to reach depth of 4 to 6 inches. Watering in the early morning or evening/middle of night is still best if possible.

Late-Summer

Blades: Sharpen the blades on your mower since a dull blade tears up grass and causes the loss of moisture.

Water: The suggestion is to water between the hours 6 and 10 am.
