Girls Who Code Club

Do you know a 6th-12th grade girl who wants to learn about coding, computer science, and other technology? Check out Ocala’s after school program, the Girls Who Code Club! The group’s introductory meeting is scheduled for Tuesday, September 10, from 6-7 p.m. at The Cornerstone School, located at 2313 SE Lake Weir Avenue. Cost: Free

Make a Scarecrow Planter at Home Depot

The Home Depot at 3300 SW 35th Terrace is offering a how-to workshop for children (an adult must accompany each child) on Saturday, September 7 from 9am-noon. The project? A wood scarecrow planter! Children will learn about growing seeds, sanding, gluing, and painting. The kids will also receive a Workshop Apron, pin, and more. And yes, they get to take their craft home! Cost: Free

Appleton Museum Art-Making Project Series

The Appleton Museum’s “Visit the Artspace” project series begins Saturday, September 7 and runs from 10am-5pm. Children aged 4 and up can make art projects that are in the theme of a specific artist – Piet Mondrian is the first featured artist. The museum is located at 4333 E Silver Springs Blvd. Cost: Free for Appleton members and children, and children of adult non-members may participate with their parent’s paid admission fee.
